Ash and I are challenging eachother to a Biggest Loser style weight loss competition and we want you to see all the trash talk as it happens. Here's how to calculate: Week 1: 175 lbs Week 2: 170 lbs; percent: (175-170)/175 = 2.9% Week 3: 175 lbs; percent: (170-175)/175= -2.9% Week 4: 172 lbs; percent is NOT (175-172)/175 = 1.7%; the actual percent should be (X-172)/X = (170-172)/170 = -1.2%.

I lost 1.5 lbs but still a ways to go before i can count any new loss. I'm tickled about this though. Apparently the Weight Watchers points are the way to go for me. I like being able to eat a variety of things and i absolutely love their yummy chocolate cake. Now i just need to get my butt into the gym!! I'm on a waiting list of the Kickboxing bootcamp class i wanted to take Boo Urns!!
I stumbled over here from Lindsey's blog. I started coming home from work and exercising every day and I'm trying the continual eating plan ... small meals and snacks every 2 hours. In the first week, I lost 4 lbs. I know that seems high and not safe but I figure it's mostly water. My goal is 1.5 a week. Good luck to you!

Yeah I am even this week but 1 lb. up from my target. Good job jennifer although i am highly skeptical of your diet plan.
Well, you two can just keep on gaining weight and being skeptical of my diet plan! I feel fantastic, and it hasn't even been that hard to give up some of my favourite foods. And despite it seeming pretty restrictive I've eaten out 3 times since I started it and managed to stay reasonably within the guidelines. I'm not craving that much, I feel full after eating. I don't know how long I'll keep it up, but for now I'm pretty happy with it.
The one downside of this entire losing weight in the winter plan is that my winter coat which was already too big for me is just getting bigger and bigger, this doesn't lend itself to keeping you warm. I think I need to get out my needle and thread and move the buttons or something because I'm sure as heck not buying a new one.
Oh, and welcome Crazy. What do you eat on this continual eating plan?
I am late with my results again. Hectic at home.
Anyway, I am down one pound this week.

I'm not finding it too hard, but these things generally depend on the person. I needed something a bit stricter to break my bad restaurant habits. I've been making the brown rice at home in big batches and bringing it with me to work. Generally, I toss together some rice, spinach, peppers, bean sprouts, maybe chicken and then I toss it in the microwave for a minute or so and put some organic tamari. It's quite good.
i actually love brown rice but its so damn hard to cook. do you have any suggestions, jennifer.
i have a rice cooker and white rice is easy to cook, but brown rice, i have to soak it in water first and then cook it and even then its harder to digest.
put a cup of brown rice and two and a half cups of water into a regular pot with a tight fitting lid.
bring it to a boil, stir once, put the lid on and turn the heat down to the lowest setting and set the timer for 45 or 50 minutes. after that time turn the heat off and leave it for another 10 minutes, then eat. put the rest in the fridge and heat it up in the microwave for your next meal.
most rice cookers don't work with brown rice, you just have to do it the old fashioned way. my rice cooker claims to do brown rice but i haven't tried it yet because every time i've made brown rice so far for this diet i've needed it to turn out. maybe i'll crack out the old rice cooker this weekend while i have some time on my hands to make another batch if the rice cooker messes it up.
as for digestability, brown rice being harder to digest is somewhat the point. are you saying it's hard to digest because your rice cooker wasn't cooking it properly, or because you're not used to the fibre.
I mean to say the last time I had it for dinner, I woke up in the middle of the night cuz my tummy hurt.
