New Plan... cause the old one's not working...

So, I didn't lose anything this week. Which is less of a dissapointment than last week because I've been at work a lot, and we had fewer practices this week, and I skipped one due to knee pain (hope I don't have to go back to physio!).
Howver, I was sitting in the lunch room today eating low fat black bean soup and a couple of the other girls came in and started talking about this diet they were planning on doing next week. It's a diet based around brown rice. I've heard about this before from other people. And it's something I'm interested to try. So here goes. This is the info the girls gave me:

Start every day with hot water and lemon, try to eat brown rice at as many meals as possible, and avoid all the following items:

Caffeine (sorry)
Alcohol
Sugar
Salt
Preservatives (no canned/packaged/frozen foods... and that means organic produce only)
Wheat
Dairy
Soy
Bananas
Peanuts
Oranges
Corn
Mushrooms
Tomatoes
Eggs
Known allergens

Some of those things seem random, but it's because these foods (like corn and soy) are in EVERYTHING.

Here are some helpful tips:

Rice milk
Rice cakes
Almond butter
Wheat-free tamari sauce (to flavour your rice with! It's full of salt, but still on the approved list!)
Hummus (add it to everything!)
Dried fruit, specifically those fruit leather bars
Spelt and dark rye breads have no wheat, but you're still not supposed to eat them. Maybe bread in its entirety is out. But I say it's okay to have some when you get the bread craving... and you will.
Honey and maple syrup! Shelley had the vague feeling that these were wrong, but nowhere were they mentioned on the food list.
Lemon and pepper for flavouring.

Does that sound like fun or what?

I'll let you know how it goes. I'm starting Monday.

Wow, that sounds like the worst idea ever (sorry, I don't know how to be anything but honest). Talk about something that is inflexible and difficult to maintain!

Anyway, it looks like I take the biggest loser prize for the week... -3.4 pounds! Is that crazy or what? In one week. Who knew. But, I put on 2.6 pounds over the holidays so I am actually only down -.08 from my lowest weight. But still, yay!

Jennifer, i think you cant be serious about this post, can you? this is a pretty dumb list of foods to avoid (sorry to be rude).

trust me the tough part is to get over the initial bump in the road. after that losing or maintaining is easy. here is my program for you if you wish to consider it:

eliminate all basic sugars from your diet.

lift weight. you cant lose weight without building muscle. the great thing about muscle is that it requires a lot of energy just to be in your body, so it starts burning fat to survive.

other than that the worst you can do to yourself is to look for magic programs. just eat right, exercise and be happy.

Yeah, I know it's fruity, but hey, it's not like I'm going to starve to death. And if it doesn't cleanse the 'toxins' (or whatever hippy shit) from my system then I'm not going to give up and stop eating healthy and get trapped in my house and have to have Maury Povich rescue me. It's just a wacky thing that I'm trying for a couple of weeks with some friends. I still lift weights, Yrautca, I'm still on a sports team. And I'd also like to point out, Yrautca, that you are very prone to tell people that there is only one way to loose weight, and you're wrong, there are many ways to get to the same goal, it's just a matter of finding what works for you. Some people never eat any of those foods and live happy healthy lives. Sometimes it's fun to vary your routine and try something fun and new.
Anyway, I may like the new plan, I may hate the new plan and give it up after a day, I may get hit by a bus tomorrow. You'll all just have to wait until Thursday to find out how this crackpot scheme is working.
